The Possibilities of Using Electronic Media in the New Evangelization in Slovakia
Ladislav Csontos SJ
CSONTOS, L.: The Possibilities of Using Electronic Media in the New Evangelization in Slovakia. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 5 – 23.
In Slovak society the normal development of the local Church comprising the gradual use of means of communication was interrupted by the onset of communism. Despite the persecution which suppressed the life of the Catholic Church by liquidation of all Catholic schools, hospitals and welfare facilities, publishing houses and ultimately religious orders as well and sowed fear among believers by the fact that a lot of them were convicted in stage-managed trials and given long-time sentences, a lot of brave Christians went on forming small communities. In this environment non-periodic and periodic samizdat originated, and finally the essential feature of the Catholic Church proved important – community. At the same time productive cooperation between priests and committed laity developed. This experience appears to be a fruitful model for the use of the modern electronic media, especially the Internet and social networks for the new evangelization in Slovakia. It shows the need to recreate the environment of open dialogue, support and cooperation between priests and laity, especially young people in the area of evangelizing use of the electronic media. Young people need the enthusiasm of the gospel, living Christian community, the sense of responsibility for the proclamation of faith, the space of freedom and trust, encouragement, but not moralizing. The trust of hierarchy in the youth brings the trust of youth in hierarchy. Young people are critical of authorities and are willing to accept the only natural authority; they want to see the adults’ example of Christian life, the power of gospel lived to the fullest. For them, this is the most efficient driving force for their own involvement in the new evangelization.

The Place of New Evangelization in the Parish’s Pastoral Work
Jan Przybyłowski
PRZYBYŁOWSKI, J.: The Place of New Evangelization in the Parish’s Pastoral Work. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 25 – 31.
The article presents a vision of New Evangelization, which assumes going out of the Church community with the Gospel to the world. New Evangelization today is the mission of the whole Church. This task, although directly concerning the relationships of the community of Christ with the external world, and primarily assumes its constant inner renewal, with which is tied change in roles that every member of the Church fulfils: at one time they are evangelized, the other time they evangelize. These roles must be fulfilled by both clerics and secular believers: in one of the situations they are evangelists, in the other they are students in Christ’s school of Gospel.

Proposals of Evangelization for Parishes in Slovakia
Jozef Kyselica SJ
KYSELICA, J.: Proposals of Evangelization for Parishes in Slovakia. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 33 – 44.
Until not long ago, the parish was the main site for the institutional identification where Christian life in its members was developed with all its riches. In the last decades due to the many reforms in society the image of the parish so far and the style of its pastoral care has found itself in a state of criticism and rejection. In the article we are searching for the answer to the question on how to renew our parishes for them to be able to answer the religious needs of the people in the new situation of a pluralistic society and in a situation of additional social reforms, which force the Church to take a responsible attitude. We offer three models of renewal of Christian life in parishes which have come from the impulse of the ecclesiology of the Vatican Council II in some European countries and are very successful. The conclusion of the article is formed by a reflection on aging and renewal of society as a sociological reality.

Website as an Instrument of Evangelization in Parishes in Poland
Ryszard Sawicki
SAWICKI, R.: Website as an Instrument of Evangelization in Parishes in Poland. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 45 – 55.
Present sociocultural situation demands a deep and systematic reflection on strategies of communication in Polish parishes, that wish to proclaim Gospel to each person. Dynamic development of the Internet, information and communication technologies pose a huge challenge to Polish parishes. Today’s website is not only an important element of public relations shaping the image of a parochial community but above all an important instrument of new evangelization. Abandoning the idea of having it or neglecting duties concerned with administering it is comparable to lack of due care about proclaiming Good News. The Internet is still an insufficiently used opportunity for the Polish parishes to take full advantage of the contemporary areopagus of new evangelization. Thanks to the website, the addressees of new evangelization should be able to come to know better their parish and eventually come to discover again the way to God and Church.

Religiosity and Pastoral Theology
Jozef Žuffa
ŽUFFA, J.: Religiosity and Pastoral Theology. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 57 – 67.
Reflection of values and life-style changes in the society is important in the process of identification of “sighs of time”. This paper analyses the religiosity in Slovakia and neighbour countries based on the “Aufbruch” survey done at the University of Vienna. The research measures religiosity of people in 14 countries. Values of religiosity are divided into three dimensions, namely personal religiosity, contents of faith and relationship with the Church. In this study we compare the chosen values from the research in the year 1997 and 2007. Based on the survey results, it is possible to create three groups of people with different religiosity status: orthodox-religious, cultural-religious and seculars.
The chapter “Short historical excurse” continues with analysis of some historical facts in the Slovak society after the political changes in 1989 and their influence at the religiosity. The development of Slovak society and the Catholic Church in Slovakia is described by the periods of personal development: childhood, puberty, teenager and post-teenager period.
The last part of the paper concludes some opportunities for pastoral theology to work with actual topics in the “adult time” of society and the Church. The most important result tends to be the necessity for Church to be a strong discussion partner in the Europa-values discussion, and the wish to remain the “Agency of hope” also for people who do not see themselves as members of the Church.

Evangelizing Cells as a Proposal for a Parish in Poland
Rafał Zieliński
ZIELIŃSKI, R.: Evangelizing Cells as a Proposal for a Parish in Poland. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 69 – 82.
To summarize the above discussion it should be noted that the situation in Poland pastoral demands of the parish renewal, so that it can truly become a place that supports the renewal of the gospel to all the local people’s living environments, leading to wake up and growth of faith. Looking for a genuine renewal of the parish roads, remember that without the participation of the laity will be only apparent. It is necessary that the leaders and people responsible for animating, who will be priests’ associates. This is the way is the way of evangelizing proposed by the system of parish cells, whichby means of using regular relationships, reaches environments often inaccessible for priests. The parish evangelization cells in Poland is relatively poorly known, so you should formulate a pastoral demand to take advantage of the system having regard to the particular culture and mentality. You can also adopt, without the implementation of the system, certain elements of the existing parish communities. In this way, the parish will be able to carry out its basic tasks, not to mention those who are astray.

Mary Completing of the Missionary Message of Jesus
Ján Ďurica SJ
ĎURICA, J.: Mary Completing of the Missionary Message of Jesus. Studia Aloisiana, 4, 2013, 3, s. 83 – 99.
The Holy Spirit gives the whole Church a missionary character. The Second Vatican Council reminds us that all Christians at their Baptism receive the dignity of God’s children, as well as the vocation obliging them to participate in the missionary apostolate of the Church (RM 71).
Pope John Paul II introduces proclaiming of the Gospel as the message of hope and refers to the first proclaiming and the new proclaiming. He emphasizes that the revelation gives history its meaning as it proclaims Christ’s mystery. Evangelization is the proclaiming of Jesus Christ and his Gospel to the world, to achieve the goal of redemption of man and to obtain eternal bliss on which we can already participate by a holy life. A good starting point and example of an effective understanding and realizing of evangelization the Pope sees in Mary, to whom one can turn with confidence and ask her for help in the understanding and realizing of this existential vocation. The ever changing history of the Church is accompanied with signs. Among them the Book of Revelations interposes a great sign, which took place in heaven and talks about a battle between a woman and a dragon. A woman, adorned with the sun and crying aloud in the pangs of childbirth (cf. Rv 12:1-2) symbolizes also the Church, the people of the New Covenant who are exposed to persecution, but always protected by God. The true winner is the child born of the woman. In this battle is the certainty that the dragon will be defeated (Rv 12:9). Christ-God who became man has prevailed over it – by his death and resurrection – and martyrs have also prevailed “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, even until the death” (Rv 12:11).
The John Paul’s theological reflection upon these serious events often culminates in prayer to Mary, the Mother of Hope. The Gospel of hope, entrusted to the Church and accepted by it, demands daily proclamation and daily witness. That is the vocation owning to the Church at all times and in all places. It is her inmost identity. She is here to evangelize which means to proclaim and teach and to mediate the grace, to reconciliate sinners with God, to commemorate Christ’s sacrifice in Holy Mass, which is the celebration of the memory of his death and glorious resurrection for the salvation of each person and all of humanity.
