Priebeh a povaha praktického uvažovania podľa Tomáša Akvinského
Process and Character of Practical Deliberation according to Thomas Aquinas
The paper deals with the question of the practical deliberation according to Thomas Aquinas. The conscience as the cognitive act of principle knowledge’s application to particular action is completed by the concept of prudence. Prudence is the virtue which acquirement helps man to learn from the past experience and to have a vision of the future in deliberating about the present. Thanks to the reciprocity of conscience and prudence the man is advancing on the way of moral certitude, which, although unrealisable in the condition of present life, still has to exist like a project, to which one can never resign.

Rawlsova teória verejného rozumu v kontexte súčasných diskusií
Rawls’s Conception of Public Reason in Context of Contemporary Discussions
One of typical features of modern liberal democracies is philosophical, ethical and religious pluralism. This wide range of various doctrines and values is on one side very positive fact, on the other side it can cause problems and serious conflicts as well. This article deals with the proposals of American philosopher John Rawls concerning the questions of democratic pluralism, namely with his concept of public reason. It focuses in particular on the relations between public reason and religion, especially on the questions about the meaning and role of religious arguments in political discussion and decision making in the way they are reflected in contemporary philosophical debate.
Key words: political philosophy, John Rawls, liberalism, democratic pluralism, public reason, religion

Gadamer o pravde v umení a estetickej skúsenosti
Gadamer’s Concept of Truth in Art and Aesthetic Experience
In regard to the truth-claim of art, Kant’s theory takes a strong stance. He declares outright that the aesthetic judgment is not cognitive and that, therefore, matters of art and matters of knowledge must not be confused. This is one of the legacies of Kant’s aesthetics that turned out to be one of the greatest Gadamer’s objects of contention in the tradition of philosophical thought on art from then on.
Keywords: philosophical hermeneutics, Kant’s legacy, aesthetic judgement, aesthetic experience, Gadamer’s category of play

Katolícka akcia a rozhlasové vysielanie na Slovensku (1928 – 1948)
Catholic Action and Radio Broadcasting in Slovakia (1928 – 1948)
The purpose of present paper is to focus on program, activity and results of “Catholic Action” in Slovakia in the area of broadcasting organization in the period of 1928 – 1948 on the ground of up to this day unpublished archive material. Catholic Action was a movement of the laity in the Catholic Church, promulgated from the pope Pius XI in the 1922. Its aim was reconstruction and revitalization of the catholic life in family and society, through the realization of the Christian principles in all fields of humane life. It was assumed that by implementation of the program of “Catholic Action” in 1928 in Czecho-Slovakia it will be reduce in practice also in the field of radio broadcasting. Particularly it was concerned with enforcement of moral and Christian principles in practice and mainly with establishment of religious broadcasts. However, historical and political course after the 1948 meant the death of “Catholic Action” in Czecho-Slovakia; even further misuse of its name by communist’s regime in order to achieve the objective.

K princípom personality u Boëthia a Akvinského
Principles of Personality by Boëthius and Aquinas
The present paper offers an analysis of the concept of distinction between the terms nature and person in the works of Boëthius and Aquinas. An inevitable prerequisite for their ideas regarding aforementioned topic is an insight into the Aristotelian ontological conception of the “first” and “second substance”. Consequently, in the light of Boëthius’s approach towards the topic of the present paper, particularly his interpretation of the distinction between the “first” and “second substance”, we can understand more about the medieval way of ontological construction of the concept of personality. Boëthius laid the foundations of every later medieval approach to this problem but solution of Aquinas brings new elements to the whole ontological basis (as we know it from Aristotle) which he, anyway, uses as a starting point of his thought. |
