Teológia spoločenstva v akademickej pastorácii na Slovensku včera a dnes
Theology of Community within the Academic Pastoral Care in Slovakia Yesterday and Today

Modern history of the academic pastoral care in Slovakia begins as late as after the break-up of Austro-Hungarian Monarchy after the First World War. In 1919 the Comenius University of Bratislava was founded, but nowadays in Slovakia there are twenty public universities, three state universities, eleven private universities and four foreign universities. The number of students on these universities has risen enormously and gradually pastoral activities of the Catholic Church have been developed there. Since the beginning, in the form of small communities of students, it has gradually developed through the secret structure of small groups into present day university pastoral centres which work in eleven university towns. During the whole development of the academic pastoral care the main theological line has been made up by the theology of the Sacred Body of Christ with its emphasis on the communio of the Church. This theology appeared to be fertile and shows a potential of fertility also for the future.

Pastorácia mládeže ako jedna z hlavných priorít „Pastoračného plánu Katolíckej cirkvi na Slovensku 2007 – 2013“
Youth Pastoral Care as One of the Priorities of “The Pastoral Plan of the Catholic Church in Slovakia 2007 – 2013”

The Catholic Church has always tried, within its capabilities, to accompany and lead young people along the path to maturity. It was precisely Pope John Paul II who took them seriously as persons and showed them that he saw their struggle to give meaning to their life. In the middle of the nineteen-eighties, he expressed his conviction of the importance of pastoral work with present-day youth which had to be – and has become – the official line for the pastoral focus of the universal Church. He said: “Youth pastoral activity is one of the priorities of the Church on the threshold of the third millennium.” Pastoral activity with youth has its own place, not only within special pastoral theology, but also in “The Pastoral plan of the Catholic Church of Slovakia 2007 – 2013”. Little by little the family is failing to be the place for passing on the faith also here in Slovakia, even when its individual members profess adherence to the faith and teaching of the Church. Many young people who are looking for the meaning of their life are also looking for God. It is precisely the Catholic Church that has an understanding of this age in life and also points out the meaning it has for young people. Youth pastoral activity is aimed at getting suitably close to young people, communicating with them in a language they understand, encouraging them to give witness to and to speak more and to leave them space to make their own choice. It is also worthwhile because young people are the hope of both Church and society.

Evanjelizácia ako odpoveď na životné otázky mladých
Evangelization as an Answer to Life’s Questions of Young People

The dialogue between the Church and the young people today is complicated and difficult. The social changes are so fast that the older generations are unable to respond to them. The present article is trying to explain the situation of the young people reflecting the three generations: the generation of the frustrated adults, pragmatic generation of the younger adults and the generation of emptiness – the adolescents. To this particular one the Church wishes to offer values of the Gospel and share a community with them. There are two models of evangelization, a model of inculturation and the bibliocentric model. The first model supposes that the young people coming from traditionally Christian regions have roots in their historical background and are at least latently influenced by Christianity. The second model concerns more the population of towns. These are young people missing the most basic information about Christianity and have never encountered the Good News of the Gospel explained understandably. In both models the evangelizers need patience and earnest search of answers to the spiritual requirements of the present day youth.

Osobowość współczesnej młodzieży : Studium psychologiczne
Personality of Contemporary Youth : Psychological Study

Adolescence is a very important time in human life. This is a period of rapid changes in a life of a young person. It is especially worth noticing how teenagers develop emotionally and how their personality transforms. It has to do with the fact that during adolescence teenagers separate themselves from their parents and try to be independent. If a young person undergoes the transition properly, she/he may reach maturity and avoid threats such as depression, aggressive behavior and addiction.

Religijność polskiej młodzieży w świetle badań socjologicznych
Religiosity of the Polish Youth in View of Sociological Research

International studies suggest that the Polish youth has a very high degree of religious affiliation. At the same time, however, changes qualitatively religious attitude of successive generations of Poles. The faith of young people is increasingly mindless, disorderly, not too deep and intellectually worked. In contemporary prefigurative culture speed and volatility of the surrounding world requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly. We must therefore resign from what it used to be important to realizing what is important in the future. Consequently, it is difficult to refer to existing role models, need to act on their own, which leads to social disintegration. The result is a conformist attitude of young people to religion. Research autodeclaration of faith, knowledge and religious faith and morals and religious practice has shown that religiosity of today’s youth in Poland is becoming more like the religion of Western societies. It is selective, and individualized, relativized.

Wybrane wspólnotowe metody i formy duszpasterswa młodzieży w Polsce
Selected Communal Forms and Methods of the Youth Chaplaincy in Poland

In the apostolic exhortation entitled Ecclesia in Europa Bl. John Paul II emphasised the necessity to pay more and more attention to “prepare youth to a faithful life”. Depicting the situation of young people who wish to be together, who to a greater or lesser extent feel the hunger for the Absolute and simultaneously have the need to share their faith, the Pope called for the revival of a youth chaplaincy that would recognise distinct situations of different age groups of young people (EiE 61–62).
In response to the call of Bl. John Paul II, the author presents a selection of communal forms and methods of the youth chaplaincy that are carried out in Poland: Katolickie Stowarzyszenie Młodzieży; Ruch Światło Życie; Lednickie Spotkania Młodych; Przystanek Jezus. The selection is not arbitrary. The first two have their own long-standing tradition. They function on the basis of a good methodology related to their multifaceted and arranged for many years structure. The remaining ones essentially limit themselves to occasional activities. After presenting the above-mentioned methods, the author puts forward certain pastoral postulates related to creating the youth chaplaincy model which would be suitable for contemporary challenges. During this creation process, he appeals, the Magisterium, the sociological image of the young people revealed by the conducted studies, the specific character of the development of their devotional lives as well as their inner yearnings should all be taken into account. The activities carried on are supposed to be part of new evangelisation process, which is so important for the contemporary Church.
The author emphasises that the following words expressed by the great pastor of young people, Bl. John Paul II, and included in the apostolic exhortation entitled Christifideles laici continue to be relevant: “The Church cannot perceive the young people only as the object of its pastoral care. In reality, they are, and this is what they should always be encouraged to, the active entity, the lively participants of evangelisation and the creators of the social revival.”(Chl 46)
